When you scan a receipt it gets the restaurant or store name, date, tax, total, and whether you paid cash or charge.  Then, it puts this information in the computer where you can edit it and export it to programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Money, Quicken, QuickBooks, and many other applications.
